Manukau Rail Station - Dart 9 Project - Winner of the 2011 NZCS Infrastructre Award.

The project was fully designed with concrete and steel.
Located adjacent to Manukau's Corporate offices and business precinct the project needed to compliment the surroundings.

Aesthetics
Following on from the success of the nearby cavendish link rail underpass project, Manukau City Council and Kiwirail selected MONARC's beautiful Oyster blend of concrete with Monarc's Diamond Honed surface texture to line the 100 meter long tunnel / station walls.

Functional Consideraton
Located in south Auckland the selection of concrete mix and finishes were supported with the functional gain that this solution provided.
The Monarc Diamond Honed surface meant any undesireable Tagging - Should it occur would be significantly easier to remove than other concrete surface treatments. The Super smooth texture also eliminates any potential snagging or abraision to the high quanittiy of foot traffic that will transit through the station.

In support of the enviormental considerations graffitti guard coatings were also applied to the poished precast panel surface to reduce any risk of staining.
